THE DL-01 PROTOCOL

01 // DEFINE

State the actual decision.

Identify the real deadline, the desired result and the constraint that cannot be ignored.

If the decision itself is unclear, the mind can continue thinking around the situation indefinitely. DL-01 forces the question into a form that can actually be decided.

02 // FILTER

Separate signal from noise.

Distinguish facts, evidence, confirmed constraints and direct observations from assumptions, imagined reactions, worst-case stories and the demand for perfect certainty.

Then separate what you can control, what you can only influence, and what sits completely outside your control.

03 // COMPARE

Reduce the field.

DL-01 limits the comparison to a maximum of three viable options and forces each option through the same structure:

Primary gain.
Primary cost.
Primary risk.
Reversibility.
First move if chosen.

Then remove the weak option you are carrying forward only because you are afraid to close it.

04 // LOCK

Price the cost of delay.

What happens if nothing changes in:

24 hours?
7 days?
30 days?

Then separate information that can still be acquired from certainty that never will be.

Finally, record the decision, rationale, first physical action, execution deadline, execution trigger and the specific condition under which the decision may legitimately be reopened.

THE CORE RULE

NEW DISCOMFORT IS NOT NEW EVIDENCE.

Once the decision is locked, discomfort alone is not a reason to reopen it.

DL-01 makes you define the reopen condition in advance — before doubt returns.
