AUDIT → CUT → PROVE → RELEASE

STOP POLISHING WORK THAT IS ALREADY READY.

The work exists.

But it is still sitting in draft.

You keep adjusting details. Adding one more thing. Rewriting something that already works. Moving the definition of “done” further away.

OG-01 // Output Gate is built for that final mile.

It is a structured completion protocol designed for work that already exists — but is being held back by unnecessary revision, expanding scope or hesitation.

The system does not ask whether the work feels finished.

It forces you to determine whether there is an actual release blocker.

READY IS A CONDITION.
PERFECT IS NOT.

THE OUTPUT GATE SYSTEM

OG-01 moves the work through four operating stages:

AUDIT → CUT → PROVE → RELEASE

AUDIT separates genuine blockers from preferences.
CUT freezes the current scope.
PROVE defines observable evidence of completion.
RELEASE moves the output out of draft state.

01 // AUDIT THE OUTPUT

Before deciding whether something is finished, define exactly what exists.

OG-01 makes you identify:

  • the specific output you are trying to release;
  • its intended purpose;
  • the required deliverable;
  • the release destination;
  • its current state.

The system deliberately separates the deliverable from the larger project around it.

You cannot close undefined work.

02 // SEPARATE BLOCKERS FROM POLISH

Not every possible improvement deserves authority.

OG-01 separates:

RELEASE BLOCKERS

from

OPTIONAL IMPROVEMENTS

A functional failure, missing required component or unresolved delivery dependency can legitimately block release.

Visual polish, optional additions, preference changes and low-impact rewriting do not automatically earn more time.

You then freeze the current release by separating:

REQUIRED FOR RELEASE
IMPROVEMENT ONLY
AFTER RELEASE

New ideas can be captured without being allowed back into the current version.

03 // MAKE REVISION EARN AUTHORITY

Before another revision is allowed, OG-01 tests it against three questions:

Does it correct a functional failure?
Does it satisfy a requirement?
Would leaving it unchanged create a delivery problem?

If there is no verified reason, additional work is denied.

If revision is justified, you define both:

the exact correction
and
the condition that proves the revision is finished.

04 // DEFINE DONE

OG-01 replaces the feeling of “maybe it still needs something” with observable completion criteria.

You define:

REQUIRED COMPONENTS
What must be present?

FUNCTION TEST
What must work?

QUALITY FLOOR
What minimum standard must be met?

DELIVERY STATE
What must be true before the work can be sent, submitted, published or handed off?

Then you create a one-sentence DONE STATE.

If completion cannot be proven, the gate cannot open.

REDUCE THE REMAINING WORK

OG-01 limits the final workload instead of allowing closure to become another project.

Up to six open items are classified as:

BLOCKER
IMPROVEMENT
REMOVE

Only verified blockers move forward.

From there, the final operation is reduced to three actions:

CLOSE → VERIFY → RELEASE

PASS THE GATE

Before release, the output is tested against four conditions:

PURPOSE
Does it perform its intended purpose?

REQUIREMENTS
Are all required components present?

QUALITY FLOOR
Does it meet the defined minimum standard?

DELIVERY READY
Can it now be sent, submitted, published or handed off?

Only failed conditions receive additional work.

PASS ALL 4. THEN RELEASE.

RELEASE THE WORK

Passing the gate is not the final step.

You still define the physical release action:

SEND · SUBMIT · PUBLISH · EXPORT · DELIVER · HAND OFF

Then record:

  • the exact release move;
  • destination;
  • release date and time;
  • channel or platform;
  • actual release.

The system also forces you to stop waiting for things that do not constitute release authority — such as perfect confidence, another opinion, one more idea or emotional readiness.

KEEP THE RELEASE CLOSED

OG-01 includes two printable Output Released cards.

Each card records the output, version, release destination, release time, done state and the condition under which the work may legitimately be reopened.

The operating rule:

NEW PREFERENCE IS NOT NEW FAILURE.
